Types of Filament Yarn
Monofilament Yarns
As evident by its name, consisting of a single solid filament, mono filament yarns are usually circular and solid in cross section.
Multifilament Yarns
A multi continuous filament yarn is composed of a bundle of very thin, infinitely long threads. The threads are generally referred to as filaments.
Spun VS Filament Yarns
Synthetic filament yarn is the yarn consisting of fibers with each end being endless. In spun yarn, though the whole yarn is continuous, each staple fiber is discontinuous.
Filament yarns are made up of single filament or multi filaments from spinneret through cooling, oiling, drafting, winding and other processes, including monofilament and multifilament yarn types. Filament yarns can be for industrial use or civil use. Spun yarns are shorter fibres, spun in strips and twisted, mainly for civil use.
