Polysorbate 40
Polysorbate 40, also known as polyoxyethylene sorbitan monopalmitate, consists of sorbitol, ethylene oxide, and palmitic acid. It has a molecular formula of C62H122O26. At room temperature, it is in the form of a yellow to orange viscous liquid or pastes at room temperature. Polyoxyethylene 20 sorbitan monopalmitateis an O/W emulsifier with an HLB value of 15.6. It is soluble in water, ethanol, ethyl acetate, and toluene.
