L-Cysteine S-Sulfate Na
Appearance and Crystal Morphology of L-Cysteine S-Sulfate Na
At room temperature and normal pressure, L-cysteine S-sulfate sodium salt exists as a white to off-white crystalline powder or granular solid. The color may slightly yellow upon prolonged exposure to light or high temperature due to partial decomposition of the sulfonate-thiol structure.
Its crystal system belongs to the monoclinic system (confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction). The crystal morphology is typically needle-like or flaky, depending on the solvent and temperature conditions during recrystallization. For example, crystallization from aqueous ethanol tends to produce fine needle-like crystals, while slow evaporation of aqueous solution yields larger flaky crystals.
The crystal has a certain luster, and the surface is smooth without obvious hygroscopic agglomeration under dry conditions.
