[DEFINITION]:(2R,3S,4R,5R,8R,10R,12S.13S,14R)-13-[(2,6-Dideoxy-3-C-methyl-3-O-methyl- alpha-L-ribo-hexopyr-anosyl)oxy]-2-ethyl-3,4,10,-trihydroxy-3,5,6,8,10,12,14-heptamethyl-11-[[3,4,6-trideoxy-3-(dimethylamino)- beta -D-xylo-hexopyranosyl]-1-oxa-6-azacyclopentadecan-15-one

[CHARACTERS]:Appearace:white or almost white powder.Solubility:practically insoluble in water ,freely soluble in anhydrous ethanol and in methylene chloride.

[FUNCTION]:Azithromycin is indicated for mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible organisms; in lower respiratory tract infections including bronchitis due to Haemophilus influen zae, Moraxella catarrhalis,streptococcus pneumoniae or staphylococcus and pnenmonia due to Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae; uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infectconsl;sinusitis due to Haemophilus infiuenzae,streptococcus pneumoniae aureus; and as an laternative to first line therapy of phary ngitis/ronsillitis. Azithromycin is indicated for the treatment of community acquired pheumonia Caused by susceptible organisms, including legionella pheumophila,in patients who require initial intravenous therapy. In sexually transmitted diseases in men and women, Azithromycin is in dicated in the treatment of uncomplicated genital infections due to Chlamydia Trachomatis.
