One of the most ecological conscious production methods is to produce acid from spent acid (spent sulfuric acid or other sulfur containing compounds). Typically, spent acid is sprayed into a direct fired combustion chamber at the temperature of 1000 Deg Celsius, after which the acid is vaporized and decomposed into SO2, H2O and O2. The SO2 containing gas then flows through a waste heat recovery boiler to be cooled down to approximately 400 Deg Celsius for the next ongoing gas purification process. Design IngenuityThe flue gas flowing out of the thermal decomposition furnace is highly corrosive and with molten dust particles. Our waste heat boiler for this application adopts fire-tube structure, in which each gas tube is equipped with a direct door for easy cleaning. By virtue of our design integrity, tube wall temperature always stays higher than the dew point of gaseous sulfuric acid, hence the entire heat exchange surface area is not susceptible to corrosion. The average investment recovery period is approximately 3.5 years.
