Why is it important to keep a disposable serological pipette upright?

Hold the disposable serological pipette in a vertical position during pipetting and store the pipette in an upright position. This prevents liquids from running into the pipette body. Use universal filter pipette tips or robotic tips to prevent aerosol transfer from the sample into the pipette body.

What should disposable serological pipettes be disposed in?
