Milk frothers first appeared with the advent of espresso machines, which came with steam wands to froth steamed milk. The tiny bubbles created during the frothing process give the milk a lighter texture and more volume. The air in the milk frother combines with the chemical properties of the milk to create the fine texture of the foam.
