The squeeze die casting, also called extrusion casting or liquid die forging, is a kind of newly developed metal forming technic that combines the casting process and dies forging method.

The basic principle of squeezing die castingis to fill the liquid metal into the pre-lubricated mold cavity, then give sustained pressure to the metal, thus forming the solidifying hard shell. The metal crystallization and solidification process are conducted under the pressure, so the defects such as shrinkage and porosity are greatly diminished. An almost defects-all-free product could be achieved by this technic.

Types of Squeeze Die Casting

There are 2 subdivisions of squeeze die casting: direct squeeze die casting and indirect squeeze die casting. The formal technic is to give the pressure directly on the surface of liquid metal, while the last technic is to pressure the liquid maintaining in the gating part of the casting mold. Usually, the direct squeezing die casting has a better-resulted product than the indirect squeeze die casting.

What Is Squeeze Die Casting What Are Its Advantages?

Squeeze die casting is a process method to obtain castings (or ingots) by applying high mechanical pressure to liquid (or semi-solid) metals and metal matrix composites that enter the casting mold at a low speed so that they can be formed and solidified under pressure. Squeezing die casting is the product of the combination of casting and forging, which is a process between casting and forging. Squeeze die casting is close to forging in terms of performance.

The squeeze die casting process method can cast more complex pieces than forged parts. Due to the pressure molding, compared with other casting methods, the density of squeezing die casting is higher. Compared with forging, the price is relatively low because the mold is formed once. Due to the solidification under pressure, there are fewer internal defects, close to the forging organization, so the squeeze die casting parts can be heat treated.

What Is Squeeze Die Casting Used For In Automobile Parts?

At present, die-casting is a more mature process method, which is relatively cheaper. First of all, a large number of applications in engine pressure casting. Compared with sand casting, squeeze die casting has the advantages of fast and high precision.

In terms of strength, squeezing die casting also can meet the requirements. However, the surrounding bearing parts have a tendency to use pressurized casting.

Squeeze die casting could achieve vertical filling. High-pressure aluminum alloy liquid enters the mold cavity from the bottom upwards. The gate area is larger and the speed is slower, thus the gas can be exhausted from the exhaust tank. Squeezing die casting is suitable for making wall thickness parts. Most automotive parts can be made by squeeze die casting, but it is not advantageous for thin-walled parts. With the increasing call for lighter cars and lighter cars requiring more and more, squeeze die casting is a technology with greater prospects.
