Reverse Osmosis Membrane Filtration
is a water purification technology that uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove a wide range of impurities from water. The process is driven by pressure, forcing water molecules through the membrane while rejecting contaminants such as salts, bacteria, and other dissolved solids.
How It Works
Pre-Treatment:
Water first passes through pre-filters, such as sediment and activated carbon filters, which remove larger particles, chlorine, and other chemicals that could damage the RO membrane.
Reverse Osmosis Process:
Under applied pressure, water is forced against a semi-permeable membrane. This membrane has tiny pores that allow only water molecules to pass through while blocking larger solutes, including dissolved salts, organic compounds, and microorganisms.
Post-Treatment:
After filtration, the purified water may go through additional stages like post-filters or UV disinfection to further improve water quality before storage or use.
