Urokinase is a proteolytic enzyme. It can be used as a highly effective thrombolytic agent and still has the effect of dilating local blood vessels. Urokinase is mainly used for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, cerebrovascular disease, arterial embolic disease, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, systemic lupus erythematosus, etc.
Urokinase acts directly on the endogenous fibrinolysis system and can catalyze the lysis of plasminogen into plasmin, which can not only degrade fibrin clots, but also degrade fibrinogen, coagulation factor V and coagulation factor VIII in the blood circulation, thereby exerting thrombolytic effect. Urokinase has a rapid onset and good effect on newly formed thrombus. Urokinase can also increase vascular ADPase activity, inhibit ADP-induced platelet aggregation, and prevent thrombosis.
