Composite Long Rod Insulator
are critical components in high-voltage power transmission systems, designed to provide reliable insulation while minimizing weight and maintenance requirements. Made from advanced composite materials such as fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) cores with silicone rubber sheds, these insulators offer superior mechanical strength, hydrophobicity, and resistance to pollution compared to traditional porcelain or glass insulators.

Substations: Installed in outdoor substation portals and jumpers to provide safe electrical insulation.
Pole Supports: Serve as guy strain insulators for wooden poles and occasionally for steel towers, particularly in areas with challenging mechanical loads.

For voltages above 230 kV, composite long rod insulators are often equipped with corona rings, which:
