GIRDER CARRIER
Girder Carriercarrying capacities of 120T, 160T, 180T, 220T, 250T, and 300T that can be used directly to feed girder to bridge launcher and coordinate cross hole of bridge crane, featuring self-propelled, concrete girder without limitation of length, user- friendly operation, and maintenance, lower cost of transportation and good stability. Girder prefabrication field and bridging construction site with a weakness of long-distance and complex traffic, as well as the construction site where is not suitable for the track- laying or is in high cost of track- laying, etc. are also applicable. Girder Carrier takes place of traditional equipment. Many impressive performances have been achieved in girder transportation with an active presentation recently. Girder carrier comes from engineering, and will also apply to engineering practice, enabling bridge engineer well- content.
HOW DOES GIRDER CARRIER WORK
Check Before Vehicle Moving
All working points of engine oil level, hydraulic oil, fuel oil, cooling water, brake device, stored battery, transmission mechanism, starting device, lubricating condition of each joint, and tire pressure of all working points must be checked.

Vehicle Starting
When starting up, place the gear lever in the neutral position, strain the manual valve, and then switch it on with the use of a key (turn the key clockwise to ACC gear).
Ride the clutch pedal to continue to start the engine by turning the key. Once the engine is started up, loosen the key immediately. Each starting time should be no more than 15 seconds, so order to protect the starter and stored battery. After starting failure of each time, try again after 60 seconds. If three starting fail, it shall find out the causes. It can only start the engine after troubleshooting. Evenly loosen the clutch pedal, after the stable running of the engine.
After starting, pay attention to check the oil pressure. When a diesel engine runs at an idle speed, engine oil pressure should be no less than 0.1Mpa (1 kgcm2). Check the oil surface of the oil pan for a new-assembly diesel engine after starting 5 minutes. Add the engine oil in-between the upper and down marks of the oil scale, when necessary.
The Girder trailer shall check immediately whether cooling water enters into the water jacket of the diesel engine 5 minutes after starting of diesel engine.
When starting, do not ride the accelerator fiercely, in case of the sudden rise of engine oil pressure. Feeding-up engine oil can't reach the friction surfaces of various parts, leading to quick wear of the parts.
Warnings For Use In Winter
Use in winter must be injected with F35 anti-freezing solution. The radiator curtain must be put down before the engine starts.
When starting the engine, firstly press preheats button, and then start the engine with the key.
When starting the engine in winter air temperature is below -35 ℃, if the warm machine with hot water is used, the water temperature should not be too high, avoiding cracking of the cylinder.
Correctly choose engine oil according to the environmental temperature; When the temperature is lower than 0 ℃, use winter engine oil (see the engine fuel part).
Vehicle Starting
Confirm the manual valve in the terminating braking state. After the engine starts, it shall run at a low speed for a few minutes. The vehicle can start moving when the water temperature reaches 50 ℃. Don't run at an idle speed for a long time.
Work divisions for personnel of the main vehicle and the front vehicle should be defined clearly with united command.
Starting can only be conducted after the completion of all preparations and confirmation meeting requirements.
When starting, break (breaking device) releases. Start from gear 1, which has a similar starting method to a car.
Vehicle Moving
The vehicle can only start moving under the situations of the normal running of the engine, normal functions of all instruments, indicator lights, and alarm lights.
A manual valve should be placed in the break-releasing position when starting.
During vehicle running, pay attention to keeping the engine coolant temperature between 75 and 95 ℃.
Pay attention to observing oil pressure that should be not less than 170 kPa when running at a low speed; not less than 441 kPa at a high speed. Otherwise, it shall stop the vehicle for inspection in case of component burnout.
During vehicle running, if a certain part fails, for example, air storage tank pressure is decreased, and the warning light will be on. At the moment, the vehicle should stop and strain the manual valve. Running can start after troubleshooting and light off.
In the general situation, try to not start in a hurry, accelerate suddenly and have emergency braking.
When gear shifting, the girder carrier shall have an even stronger and engage the gear to the bottom. If it's difficult to shift gears, then it shall adjust the variable-speed control mechanism.
During vehicle running, don't put your foot on the clutch pedal all the time. The foot shall leave the pedal after gear shifting.
Don't shift the gear without riding on the clutch.
The reverse gear can only be engaged after the vehicle is parked completely.
When the engine running, it shall listen often to check whether it's abnormal noise. The problem detected should be solved immediately before the vehicle runs.
Proper Use of the Clutch
The clutch is only used for changing speed gear shifting or controlling the clutch working in half on-off state in a flat road in a short time in order to lower the speed. When loading vehicle climbs or descends the slope, the clutch, and empty load are prohibited to use.
Vehicle Stop
Lower speed, vehicle stops after running at an idle speed. After that, take out the switch key. Gear position must be in a position with the gear and hand brake in the braking position after vehicle stop. Use triangle wood to stuff the front and rear tires up.
Braking Method
During vehicle running, if the failure indicator of the braking system flashes or air pressure is not enough, it shall stop the vehicle for inspection.
Check whether there is a leak in all pipelines and connectors and whether the air pump is working.
Unless in an emergency, the use of an emergency brake should be avoided.
☆ Emergency brakes can make tires lock up, leading to vehicle slip.
☆ When the transporting girder vehicle descends the slope or runs on dirt, snow, freezing road, or other good roads, full attention should be paid.
☆ Emergency braking operation will cause early wear of the tire and lead to other bad effects on other devices in the vehicle.
☆ Emergency braking will exert a great impact on a concrete girder, which may cause injury and other accidents.
It's not allowed to ride on the braking pedal continuously, otherwise, the braking pressure will be reduced, causing a bad effect on braking.
It's not allowed to have excessive use of service brake, or the brake will be overheated, significantly reducing the braking effect.
Driving on the Slope
When descending the slope, the engine should be used for dragging, and also shift control level should be placed in the gear 1 position.
* When the dragging force is insufficient, braking can be achieved with feet.
* In order to reduce wear and heating phenomenon during braking, it shall first lower vehicle speed and engage in gear 1 in advance before descending down the slope.
* It shall engage in gear 1 in advance before climbing the slope.
When descending the slope, it is forbidden to stall the engine.
When the transporting girder vehicle climbs or descends the slope with girders loaded, it is strictly prohibited to use the clutch and empty space as well as gear shifting. It's better not to stop.
Others
The starting and running of diesel engines, shall operate, check, and manage in accordance with instructions for diesel engines strictly.
Requirements on transporting girder vehicle of girder carrying
Woods or rubber blocks must be placed on the I- beam of the steering wheel, which should be more than 40 mm with a groove.
It must always keep the lubricity of friction of carrying the steering wheel to ensure flexible rotation of the steering wheel. Smear butter when necessary.
The steadiness of Concrete Girder Loading
A common method of concrete girder loading is using a gantry crane to lift the girder onto the vehicle, and place wood and rubber blocks on the I- beam steering wheel of the vehicle. Girder barycenter shall be right on the central line of the steering wheel or the vehicle. When the barycenter of the girder deviates from the center, it shall enable barycenter of concrete girder overlap the center.
After concrete girders are lifted on the vehicle, reinforcement measures must be taken. It must install an inclined strut on both wings of the concrete girder and adjust screw rod for tightening. At the same time, it shall use four wires and 4 three- ton chain blocks to connect and tighten between the concrete girder and hook at the end of the steering wheel of transporting girder vehicle at four corners, ensuring balanced and stable consolidation of the concrete girder and transporting girder vehicle. Road Conditions and Radius of Turning Circle
Roads for transportation should be smooth and solid without sedimentation phenomenon.
When the vehicle passes through the expansion joints, it shall process the steel plate for the mobile springboard. 10 mm thickness steel sheet with 25# I- beam reinforcement welded below is adopted. The processing quantity is four in general. When the vehicle runs on an incomplete road or bridge, it shall pay attention to the pavement pit, reinforcement on the surface and other barriers that are harmful to vehicle running. For more details please see the figure attached.
The maximum turning angle of the vehicle is 20º, while the minimum turning radius is 18 meters.
As the front and rear vehicles are equipped with steering gears and steering wheels, both vehicles can be controlled independently. Each vehicle has its own routine. Central position should be controlled to avoid touching the barriers.
