Efficacy and Mechanism of Action:
Sequence acetyl-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-ArgNH2 bioactive peptide, known as acetyl hexapeptide-3, is a botulinum toxin A-like compound, but it lacks the N-terminal domain of protein SNAP-25 and competes to bind to the SNARE complex that regulates its formation, inhibiting the formation of acetylcholine and thus weakening muscle contraction. The peptide also reduces wrinkle development due to unconscious skin movement. Botulinum toxin A acts as a protease, cutting the protein SNAP-25 from the SNARE complex. This leads to inhibition of acetylcholine release.
