- Weakly alkaline aqueous solutions reduce irritation: A 10% aqueous solution of Cystine Disodium Salt has a pH of 7.5–8.5, which is close to the physiological pH of the human body. This avoids the acidic irritation caused by free L-cystine (which forms acidic solutions) when administered orally or via injection, improving patient tolerance.
- High bioavailability via rapid dissolution: Its high water solubility ensures rapid dissolution in the gastrointestinal tract, leading to faster absorption and higher bioavailability compared to free L-cystine (which is poorly absorbed due to low solubility).
