Caffeic acid
Caffeic acid, also known as 3, 4-dihydroxy cinnamic acid, molecular formula C9H8O4, molecular weight 180.15, CAS Accession Number 331-39-5, EINECS Number 206-361-2. Caffeic acid is a kind of organic acid with yellow crystal appearance, belonging to phenolic acid compounds, soluble in hot water, cold ethanol, ethyl acetate, slightly soluble in cold water, its alkaline solution is orange red. Caffeic acid will turn dark green when it meets ferric chloride solution. In nature, caffeic acid generally exists in coffee in the form of chlorogenic acid, and it also exists in traditional Chinese medicine plants such as honeysuckle, wormwood and vegetable thistle.
