The G254 Textile Fabric Steam Shrinkage Tester uses a built-in steam generator to measure the dimensional stability of fabrics under steam without applied tension. Equipped with stainless steel sample racks and an automatic timer, it can simultaneously test four fabric samples. The tester comes with a steam shrinkage scale to measure the shrinkage of fabrics after treatment in the steam shrinkage tester. Using the scale, a 250 mm reference mark is pre-marked on the fabric, and after testing, the shrinkage percentage can be read directly from the scale.

Standards:

ISO 3005:A standard method for determining dimensional changes in fabrics caused by loose steaming, applicable to woven fabrics but not natural shrinkage or ironing-induced changes.

BS 4323:A British standard specifying the measurement of fabric dimensional changes induced by free steam, analogous to ISO 3005.

NEXT TM 15:A proprietary test method (likely part of NEXT's quality control protocols) for evaluating textile abrasion resistance or specific performance characteristics.

M&S P8:An internal standard of Marks & Spencer (M&S) focusing on textile safety or performance requirements, potentially related to flammability or colorfastness.

IWTO 29-76:An International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) standard defining the measurement of dimensional changes in wool-containing fabrics after steaming.

Application:

This instrument is suitable for woven fabrics and knitted fabrics, and fabrics whose dimensions are easily changed by steaming. It is used to measure the dimensional change of the fabric after being subjected to steam under the condition of no force; this dimensional change has nothing to do with the wet expansion and felting shrinkage of the fabric in the wet treatment.

Product Information:

Steaming Cylinder determines the shrinkage of unstressed fabric samples subjected to steaming in a closed chamber with anintegral steam generator. Provided with a stainless steel fabric supporting frame to accommodate 4 samples and an automatic timer. The Steaming Stability Template is suitable for measuring relaxation shrinkage of testing fabrics using with steaming cylinders, and is used to mark the fabrics before testing using a benchmark of 250mm and to read shrinkage rate directly in percentage after steaming testing.
