20L Spherical Explosion Tester

The 20L Spherical Explosion Tester is a state-of-the-art laboratory instrument designed for the precise evaluation of the explosion characteristics of combustible dusts, gases, and vapors in a controlled environment.

This critical safety testing equipment utilizes a standardized 20-liter spherical vessel, which provides an ideal geometry for studying flame propagation and pressure development during an explosion. Inside the sphere, a carefully prepared mixture of the test substance (dust cloud or gas/vapor mixture) and air is ignited by a high-energy source.

High-speed pressure transducers measure the rapid pressure increase within the vessel, and sophisticated data acquisition systems record the entire event. This allows for the determination of key explosion parameters, such as:

Pmax: The maximum explosion pressure reached.

dP/dt max (or Kst for dusts): The maximum rate of pressure rise.

These parameters are fundamental for assessing the explosion hazard of materials, designing appropriate safety measures (like explosion venting, suppression, or containment), and ensuring compliance with international safety standards.
