13.Silica Introduction:
The precipitated silica is an important reinforcing material for rubber industry. Because its microscopic structure and aggregate configuration are similar to carbon black, silica has a good reinforcement property in rubber. Its scientific name is precipitation hydrated silica, which is composed of SiO2.nH2O. It can be dissolved in caustic alkali and hydrofluoric acid, but insoluble in water. Silica has good electrical insulation with the properties of thermostability, non-combustibility, non-toxic and odorlessness. The precipitated silica is mainly used in footwear, tires and other light-colored rubber products.
