Optical Fiber Sensing System

Types of fiber optic sensor systems

FBG Wavelength Interrogator

With the characteristics of Built-in Wavelength Module; Spectral Diagnostic View for Optimizing Sensor System Setup and Operation; High Stability and Reliability; Fast, Simple and Repeatable Installation, AGSWA delivers lots of convenience for system integrators and projects with special requirements.

Fiber Optic Switch

In the optical fiber transmission system, it is used for multi-channel optical monitoring, LAN, multi-light source, detector switching and Ethernet protection conversion, etc. In the optical fiber test system, it is used for optical fiber and optical fiber device testing, network testing, field optical cable testing, and optical fiber sensing multi-point monitoring system.

Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS)

DTS has lots of advantages compared with FBG sensors, it can sense temperature along the fiber, which can be applied to temperature sensing systems composed of lines, planes and even three-dimensional in engineering, in many cases, DTS is a ideal substitute for FBG sensors.

Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS)

Exploiting the effect of Rayleigh backscatter in optical fibers, Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) has emerged as a powerful and rapidly adopted sensing technology with a broad range of uses across a wide assortment of industries.

How Does Optical Fiber Sensing System Work?

AtGrating offers DOFS (Distributed Optical Fiber Sensing) and FBGS (Fiber Bragg Grating Sensing), which are both belong to optical fiber sensing system.

FBGS is an optical fiber sensing technology based on the wavelength information of reflected light, and its sensing unit is fiber grating. Therefore, the physical quantity tested depends not only on the FBG interrogator, but also on the FBG. It is a short-distance fixed-point measurement (single-point or multi-point), even if it is called quasi-distributed or serial multi-point fiber gragg grating sensing, it is still point measurement, and the corresponding physical quantity can only be detected at the point where the fiber grating is engraved.

Different from FBGS, the common DOFS is a fiber sensing technology of fbg fiber optic sensor based on a variety of scattered light intensity, frequency, and phase information in the fiber, and the sensing unit is an optical fiber. In addition to relying on optical fibers, the physical quantities tested are more dependent on modulation and demodulation equipment and algorithms. The measured physical parameters are mostly the average value of physical parameters at the any section of fiber optic sensor (for example, average temperature in the range of every 1 meter on a 10-kilometer optical fiber)
