L-Methionine
Industrial Biotechnology: Used as a precursor in the synthesis of bioactive molecules (e.g., S-adenosylmethionine, glutathione) for biopharmaceutical production. It is also a substrate for microbial fermentation processes to produce enzymes, antibiotics, and other bioproducts. Research and Laboratory Use: Employed as a standard reagent in biochemical and molecular biology research, such as protein synthesis studies, metabolic pathway analysis, and cell culture media formulation. It is used to investigate the role of methionine in gene expression, epigenetic regulation, and oxidative stress.
