Description of 3 Inch Gate Valve:

They are usually not used for throttling purposes, but for slurries, viscous fluids, etc. Gate valves feature a removable wedge that moves with the stem nut. The wedge moves perpendicular to the direction of flow. Gate valves usually have a minimum pressure drop when fully open, provide tight shut-off when fully closed, and remain relatively free of contamination buildup.
