OPE wax for film processing
Oxidized polyethylene wax plays multiple critical roles in film processing. The carbonyl and hydroxyl groups on its molecular chain confer exceptional polarity, enabling it to form strong complex bonds with polar resins such as PVC, thereby significantly enhancing lubrication performance. Functioning as both an internal and external lubricant, it reduces friction between materials and equipment to prevent roller adhesion while also diminishing intermolecular friction, improving plasticisation efficiency and balancing internal and external lubricity. Its low viscosity and high dispersibility further promote uniform filler distribution, resulting in smoother, flatter film surfaces with enhanced gloss and transparency. Concurrently, OPE wax's high softening point and hardness strengthen the film's heat resistance and structural integrity, preventing deformation at elevated temperatures. Moreover, its non-toxicity and thermal stability facilitate widespread application in sectors like food packaging, while its environmental credentials align with industry trends.
