The principle of the shallow pot magnet is to glue one piece of solid disc magnet, either NdFeB or Ferrite, into a shallow steel housing/cup to get a more durable magnet assembly with stronger magnetic adhesive force. Then, depending on customer's applicational requirement, a cover made of stainless steel is available. If using a deep steel housing/cup, then Deep Pot Magnet is made.
Comparing with a plain magnet, shallow pot magnet covered with a steel cup which is much harder, so it is also more durable than a plain magnet. Besides, when a neodymium magnet is covered with a steel cup to make a pot magnet, not only its pull force becomes stronger, but also the cost will be decreased. Since pot magnet uses less neodymium magnet material to get same pull force with a same sized plain magnet, the steel cup is able to concentrate the magnetic field of the neodymium magnet on the working side, so pot magnet is magnetic on one face only, creating very strong adhesive force for holding and lifting purpose.
Shallow pot magnet is designed for a wide range of applications where space is restricted, but it is still wide range of size options available. It is able to be produced with countersunk hole, threaded bush, external thread etc. And the inner magnet could be ferrie magnet, NdFeB magnet, SmCo magnet, and rubber magnet.
We are able to produce a shallow magnet with stainless-steel cover with several small disc magnets in it, of same pull force, shear force, but lower cost. And the stainless-steel cover could prevent the magnet from being scratched, wetted, oiled or dirty. It has the outstanding advantages of corrosion resistance, waterproof property. So it can be used in harsh conditions.
