With arising of ecological travel, unique and glamorous vegetables with distinct colors, bizarre shape and fragrant smell show up in rural areas to beautiful environment that carry ecological, economic and social effects. Use of new vegetables in garden greening is also extensively used in city greening.

Examples include day lily with edible flower bud, greenish lily flower with edible bulbous, hyacinth bean and asparagus pea with edible fruits, platycodon grandiflorum andjerusalem artichoke with edible root. In recent years, jade-flower broccoli and broccoli introduced from abroad add new members to the team of ornamental vegetables.
3. Ornamental vegetables for fruits. Ornamental vegetables are magnificent in look and rich in nutrition. Other than serving ornamental purposes, they can be picked up or cooked. Some mature fruits can be preserved on a long-term basis. Examples include the ruby-like tomato, colorful cherry pepper, South American flowery eggplant addressed as ‘ginseng fruit’, gear-shaped UFO squash, gold-peel pumpkin that is as glorious as bananas, big and sweet colorful pepper, gold and silver eggplant, loofah, bitter gourd, cucumber, club bottle gourd fruit and so forth that all fall to this type. Some are short and some twine shed fame. They can be used for plantation in yards or balcony.
4. Ornamental vegetables for stock. Ornamental vegetables for stock are aesthetic in shape. Examples include red flower kidney bean, miraculous ornamental pumpkin, red vine spinach with thick leaves, miraculous hibiscus coccineas, miraculous and tender slender-waisted cucurbit, towel gourd and bitter gourd with green leaves and unique fruits.
