生物质颗粒功能是以农林加工废料如木屑、秸秆、稻壳、树皮等生物质为原料，经过预处理和加工，固化成高密度颗粒燃料，是替代煤/石油的理想燃料，可节约能源，减少排放，经济效益和社会效益。它是一种清洁能源。秸秆燃料的特点是颗粒燃料成型后，体积比重，耐热燃烧，便于储存和运输。成型后，技术原料体积的1/30~40的比例是原料的10~15倍（密度：0.8~0.40）。热值可达3400~6000千卡，是一种高挥发性固体燃料。
