Yulin Machinery's Hydraulic Gate Valve is a fail-safe surface safety valve (SSV) that uses a hydraulic actuator to automatically shut in wellhead flow during abnormal conditions. The hydraulic actuator shares the same bonnet and gate design platform as our pneumatic actuators, allowing a hydraulic system to be converted to pneumatic operation (or vice versa) by swapping the actuator assembly alone — a practical advantage for operators standardizing spare parts across a fleet of wells.

How It Works

Like our pneumatic actuators, the hydraulic actuator operates in a fail-close configuration. Hydraulic pressure holds the gate open against inlet pressure during normal operation. When an abnormal condition triggers a quick exhaust device, actuator pressure is released and the valve closes automatically — driven by line pressure on the stem and the compression spring. Restoring hydraulic pressure reopens the valve. An optional vent port and slam-fire system can be configured for immediate closure on gate failure.

Hydraulic actuation is the preferred choice where a hydraulic control systemis already in place on location, or where the incompressibility of hydraulic fluid is preferred for smoother, more controlled actuation response. Because the actuator assembly shares a common bonnet platform with our pneumatic designs, operators can standardize on a single valve body and switch actuation methods later without replacing the entire valve.

- Stem protection: Wear-resistant bearing and top seal protect the stem from metal-to-metal contact and eliminate twisting forces transmitted to the gate and seat, even with manual handwheel override in use.

- Compact compression spring design: Engineered for a smaller footprint while maintaining positive valve closure across all model sizes.

- Top plug seal assembly: Stem seal can be replaced without disassembling the actuator; integrated rod scraper keeps the sealing area clean and extends seal life.

- 360° rotatable actuator body: A bottom swivel plate at the base of the actuator allows full rotation to suit control piping requirements.

All three actuator types provide fail-close safety shut-in on the same valve body platform. The right choice depends on your operating priorities:

- Hydraulic Actuator (this page): Best where a hydraulic control systemis already on location, or where smoother, fluid-driven actuation response is preferred. Convertible to pneumatic operation using the same bonnet platform.

- Piston Actuator : Best for applications requiring higher closing force, using a segment-seal design for extended service life under demanding conditions.

- Diaphragm Actuator : Best for standard-pressure applications prioritizing low maintenance, lighter weight, and simpler construction.
