5.Thoughitisoftenunnecessarytodeairthematerialduetoitslowviscositysomemaychoosetodoso.Ifso,placethecontainerintoavacuumchamberandevacuatetheentrappedairfromthemixtureusingavacuumpumpcapableofachieving29inchesofmercuryvacuum.Themixturewillrise,crestandthencollapseinthecontanier.Interruption(bumping)ofthevacuummaybenecessarytopreventoverflowingthecontainer.Keepthemixtureunderfullvacuumfor2-3minutes.

7.Pourthedeairedmaterialslowlyinasteadystreamfromoneendofthemouldsothatthematerialflowsevenlyoverthepattern.Thisshouldminimizeemtrapmentofairbubblesundertheflowingmaterial.A”ready”moldmaybepouredfirstlyoverthepattern,whichwillalsohelpreducethepossibilityofentrappingaironthepatternandinthecuredrubber.Amoldreleaseagentmaybeappliedonthepatternfirsttoimproverelease.
