The purpose of the RO booster pump is to increase water pressure at the preliminarily filtered water chamber and forcing the water through the RO membrane, the reverse osmosis water is stored in a clean water chamber (water tank), while the dirty water flows led to the solution water chamber. RO water systems run well on the typical tap water pressure of 60 psi, but they run even better with a RO water pump to boost the pressure to 70 psi or higher. The increased pressure also allows the membrane to work more efficiently often giving a lower TDS in the RO product water.
Reverse osmosis is a pressure application process. Pressure is proportional to the efficiency of the RO water system, and also the power consumption. Low pressure feeding a reverse osmosis membrane can cause more rejected water and less RO drink water. If the water pressure is much lower than RO semi- membrane requirements, then adding a water booster pump is quite vital. Residential water pressure tends to range between 45 and 80 psi (pounds per square inch). Anything below 40 psi is considered too low to valuable to RO membrane, and you will get very limited purified drink water. Low-pressure feeding makes the reverse osmosis water system produce more reject water, produce less drinking water, fill the storage tank more slowly, and produce lower quality water.
Do I Really Need a RO Booster Pump?
For instance, if the city water pressure is 60 psi or more, there is little to be gained by adding a booster pump. If the city water pressure is under 50 psi, however, a pressure boost pump will give your RO system more efficiency. More water filtered at a higher pressure, more pure RO water in the storage tank. It will run less wastewater to drain). RO system thrives on pressure. And pressure thrives on the power connection to the pump.
How to Select RO Booster Pump From LEFOO
