Features and Benefits of Foot Valves
Difference Between Check Valves and Foot Valves
Foot Valves Installation
The foot valve is required to be installed at the bottom of the well suction line piping
Foot valveshave arrows on them indicating the direction of flow, make sure that they are installed with the arrows in the right direction
A foot valve should be installed at the inlet to the suction line of the turbine, centrifugal, and jet pumps. If an additional flanged check valvesis required, it should be placed after the pressure tank to allow the pump and discharge pipe to remain pressurized.
To prevent sand and sediment from entering the pumping system, the foot valve/strainer should be at least 5 ft. (1.5 m) above the bottom of the well.
