Argentina Export Data

In the first three months of 2017, Argentina's imports and exports of goods totaled $26.42 billion, up 4.7 percent from the same period last year, according to statistics Argentina. Among them, the Argentina export datawas 12.67 billion dollars, up by 1.8%, imports totaled us $13.75 billion, up 7.5 percent. The trade deficit was $1.08 billion, up 215.3 percent.

Brazil is Argentina's biggest trading partner.In the first three months of this year, Argentina exported $2.08 billion to Brazil, up 4.9%, accounting for 16.4% of Argentina's total exports. Imports from Brazil were $3.83 billion, up 24.6 per cent and accounting for 27.8 per cent of Argentina's total imports. In terms of exports, the United States and Chile are the second and third largest export markets for Argentina. In the first three months of this year, Argentina exported 850 million us dollars and 660 million us dollars to the two countries, up by 5.8% and 19.1% respectively. The two countries accounted for 11.9% of Argentina export data. In terms of imports, China and the United States are the second and third largest sources of imports for Argentina. In the first three months of this year, Argentina imported $1.86 billion and $1.81 billion from the two countries, down 7.5% and 0.6% respectively. The two countries together accounted for 26.7% of Argentina's import market. India was the biggest source of Argentina's trade surplus, with a surplus of $470 million in the January - March period. Brazil was the biggest source of Argentina's trade deficit, up 60.4 percent to $1.75 billion in the January - March period. The trade deficit with the United States was $960 million, down 5.6 percent.

In terms of commodities, in the first three months of this year, Argentina's food and beverage exports increased by 4.2%, accounting for $3.16 billion, the largest category of Argentina's export commodities, accounting for 24.9% of Argentina's total exports. Exports of plant products fell 7.5 percent to $2.57 billion, still the second largest category, accounting for 20.3 percent of Argentina's total exports. Exports of transportation equipment and animal products were $1.12 billion and $1.05 billion, up 12.1 percent and 14.2 percent, respectively. Exports of animal and vegetable oils and chemicals were $1.1 billion and $900 million, down 12.4 percent and 5.2 percent respectively. Electrical and mechanical products, transportation equipment and chemical products are the major imports of Argentina. The import amounts of January and march were 3.83 billion us dollars, 2.97 billion us dollars and 1.92 billion us dollars respectively. The import of electrical and mechanical products and chemical products decreased by 1.7% and 3.9% respectively, and the import of transportation equipment increased by 34.9%.In addition, mineral imports were $950 million, down 0.4 percent and accounting for 6.9 per cent of Argentina's total imports.
