Orlistat has the effect of regulating blood lipids: it can reduce the triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in the patient's serum, and increase the ratio of high-density lipoprotein to low-density lipoprotein.
Orlistat is a long-acting, potent specific gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor, by forming a covalent bond with the lipase active serine site in the stomach and small intestinal lumen to inactivate the above two enzymes, the inactivated enzyme can not decompose the fat in food into free fatty acids and glycerol that can be absorbed by the body, thereby reducing fat intake and playing a weight loss role. Orlistat may reduce risk factors associated with obesity and the incidence of other obesity-related diseases, including hypercholesterolemia, type II diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, hyperinsulinemia, hypertension, and may reduce the amount of fat in organs.
