Car Air Filter
The car air filter commonly used in passenger fuel vehicle engines mainly have paper air filter and polyurethane air filter.
Paper air filters are made of microporous filter paper treated with resin. The filter paper is porous, loose and folded. They have certain mechanical strength and water resistance with advantages of high filtration efficiency, simple structure, light weight, low cost and convenient maintenance. They are most widely used as vehicle air filters at present.
Polyurethane car filter are made of soft, porous and spongy polyurethane with strong adsorption capacity. They have the same advantages of paper air filters, but also have low mechanical strength.
What Are the Symptoms of a Bad Air Filters?
The auto air filters is a device for removing particulate impurities in the air. If the air contains dust and other impurities, will aggravate the wear of engine parts, so air filter with good performance must be installed into the vehicle. The main requirements of the air filter are high filtration efficiency, low flow resistance and continuous use for a long time without frequent maintenance. In case of damage or blockage, the following phenomena will occur.
Acceleration performance decreases and fuel consumption increases. Once the filter element is blocked, there is too much dust and the aperture of the filter paper is blocked, will hinder the passage of air. Then the air intake rate will decrease, the air flow will decrease, and there is not enough air support when the engine burns. Even if the accelerator is pressed deeply, the speed still can not come up, there will be insufficient power and the driving fuel consumption will increase. Moreover, under the strong negative pressure (intake suction) of the engine, the dust, impurities and particles outside the filter element will break through the filter paper and directly enter the cylinder to participate in combustion, even lead to the breakage and rupture of the filter paper.
The engine emits black smoke. If the automobile air filter is damaged or not replaced and cleaned for a long time, the dust will directly enter the engine and pass through the throttle. At this time, the particles in the air are like grinding sand, which will cause wear to the throttle. After the throttle is worn, it will sink, reduce the compression ratio and air leakage, resulting in the reduction of engine cylinder pressure, hard to start and low combustion efficiency. The cylinder burns insufficiently, the exhaust pipe emits black smoke and presents a divergent shape, and the air flow has no impulse.
