A rc flight controller for a multi-rotor UAV is an integrated circuit normally made up of a microprocessor, sensors and input/output pins. Out of the box, a quadcopter controller does not magically know your specific UAV type or configuration, so you need to set certain parameters in a software program, and once complete, that configuration is then uploaded to board.
