Components Of Cooling System
Theengine cooling systemradiates the heat generated by the combustion of the mixture in the engine combustion chamber into the air to prevent the engine from overheating and make the engine have the best operation state under the appropriate high temperature state. However, if the engine gets cold, it will accelerate the wear of components, which will reduce the efficiency of the engine and emit more pollutants. Therefore, the engine cooling system not only has the function of cooling, but also has the function of heating and keeping it constant temperature. The cooling system of the engine can be divided into air cooling and coolant cooling. The cooling system with air as the cooling medium is called air cooling system. The system with coolant as the cooling medium is called coolant cooling system.
Air cooling system has the advantages of simple structure, light weight, few faults, no special maintenance, simple maintenance, strong adaptability to geographical and climatic environment, high heat load, short warm-up time after cold start, etc. But it has the disadvantages of high requirements for material quality, poor cooling reliability, uneven cooling and high working noise.
Coolant cooling system has the advantages of reliable cooling, compact layout, low noise and convenient use. Nowadays, coolant cooling system is widely used in automotive engines.
They usually dissipate heat into the air to prevent the engine from overheating, so that the engine runs best under appropriate high temperature. If the engine gets cold, it will accelerate the wear of parts, reduce the efficiency of the engine and emit more pollutants. Therefore, another important role of the cooling system is to heat up the engine as soon as possible and keep it constant temperature.
How Does The Engine Cooling System Work?
When the engine is running, the water pump rotates, which increases the pressure of the coolant and promotes the forced circulation of the coolant. The circulating coolant takes away the heat of engine cylinder block, cylinder liner, cylinder head and other parts. When the coolant temperature does not reach the opening temperature of the thermostat, the coolant will directly re-enter the cylinder block from the water pump through the water circulation pipe. The temperature will rise rapidly as the coolant avoids unnecessary cooling. When the coolant temperature reaches the opening temperature of the thermostat, the thermostat valve closes the bypass water path of the small circulating pipe, and the coolant will flow through the thermostat into the radiator upper water chamber. The hot water will be forcibly cooled by the air flow sucked by the fan and lose part of the heat. The cooled coolant is left in the radiator water chamber and pumped into the cylinder block through the water pump to participate in the cooling cycle again.
When the vehicle heating device is turned on, under the pressure of the cooling system, part of the hot water is led out from the water outlet copper pipe on the cylinder head and enters the heating radiator. Under the action of the heater fan, the heat carried by the coolant flowing through the water core of the heater radiator is taken away by the air blown by the heater fan. The hot air is blown to the windshield through the air supply pipe for defrosting or from the damper for heating the cab. The coolant cooled by the radiator of the air heater returns to the water inlet pipe of the water pump through the water outlet pipe and participates in the circulation again.
How To Wire Points Engine Cooling System ?
After vehicle starts, the water pump driven by the belt pressurizes the coolant to ensure that the coolant can circulate rapidly in the water jacket of the engine. When the vehicle is running, the air pass the outside of radiator core through the air collision principle, and the hot coolant becomes cold due to heat dissipation to the air. The cooled coolant is introduced into the water jacket again. Cycle after cycle to realize the cooling of the engine.
