Story of Automotive Plastic Injection Molding

At the early stage of the auto industry, cars were made almost competely of metal, and that meant cars were bulky and super heavy. With the development of the industry and the outbreak of plastic market in 1940s and 1950s, automobile manufacturers intended to use plastic automobile parts during the production.

In the 1970s, auto manufacturers introduced the first cars with plastic decorative elements. Later in the 1980s, more parts such as plastic headlights, bumpers and mudguards were gradually introduced.

At the beginning of the 21st century, automobile manufacturers launched the first batch of automobile plastic structural parts, which are lighter than metal parts, releasing improved fuel efficiency and cheaper production. Application of Injection Molding Automotive Parts
