Investment casting, also known as precision casting or lost wax casting, uses a fusible industrial wax to make an accurate meltable model. The model is coated with several layers of fire-retardant paint, dried and hardened into an integral shell, and then The heated shell loss model is then fired at high temperature to form a refractory shell.
