Sorbitan Monooleate
Sorbitan monooleate, also known as sorbitan oleate/SMO, is synthesized by the esterification of sorbitan with oleic acid. It has a molecular formula of C24H44O6. At room temperature, it is in the form of amber to brown thick oily liquid. Sorbitan monooleate is a W/O emulsifier with an sorbitan monooleate HLB value of 4.3. Our sorbitan monooleate is one of the most popular surfactants as it has various functions in the formulations of food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, textile, metal processing, etc. Sorbitan monooleate is commonly used in combination with polysorbate 80.
