L-Cysteine S-Sulfate Na
Hygroscopicity and Hygroscopic Stability of L-Cysteine S-Sulfate Na
L-cysteine S-sulfate sodium salt has moderate hygroscopicity. Under ambient conditions (25 °C, relative humidity 60%), its moisture absorption rate within 24 hours is approximately 3–5%. When the relative humidity exceeds 80%, the moisture absorption rate increases significantly to 10–15%, and the powder may agglomerate, but it will not dissolve (i.e., deliquescence does not occur).
The hygroscopic agglomeration can be restored to a loose powder state by low-temperature drying (60–70 °C), without affecting its physical and chemical properties. This characteristic makes it suitable for the preparation of solid formulations (e.g., tablets, granules) in the pharmaceutical industry, as long as appropriate anti-hygroscopic excipients are added.
