Product Overview
MT-PZ ALZ55N is a high-performance, zinc-rich epoxy powder primer engineered to deliver superior corrosion protection for mild steel in demanding industrial environments. The primer combines bothcathodic protectionand aphysical barrier effect, creating a robust duplex system that safeguards steel against corrosion, chemical exposure, and mechanical damage.
Formulated with a high zinc content and reinforced with anticorrosive additives, MT-PZ ALZ55N provides conductivity that enhances cathodic protection while simultaneously improving protection in areas prone to scratches or mechanical impact. This primer is intended as abase layer for multi-coat systems, offering long-term durability when paired with compatible topcoats, including epoxy, polyester, super-durable polyester powders, and approved polyurethane liquids.
Designed for critical industrial applications, MT-PZ ALZ55N ensures structural integrity, prolonged service life, and reliable corrosion resistance in moderate to aggressive environments.

Surface Preparation & Pretreatment
The performance of MT-PZ ALZ55N is highly dependent on substrate preparation. Proper surface treatment ensures excellent adhesion, optimal edge coverage, and maximum corrosion protection.
Mild Steel:Grit or shot blasting to Sa 2.5 in accordance with ISO 8501-1. Surface roughness Rz 35–60 µm / Ra 6–12 µm.
Cast Steel / Electro Zinc Steel:Not recommended due to inconsistent primer adhesion.
Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel or Zinc-Sprayed Surfaces:Use alternative primers; MT-PZ ALZ55N is not designed for these substrates.
Best Practices:
Ensure all surfaces are clean, oil-free, and dry prior to coating.
Remove loose dust and contaminants from blasting before applying the primer.
Application Guidelines
Spraying:Use corona electrostatic spraying. Tribo application is not recommended due to inconsistent film formation.
Fluidizing Air Pressure:1.5 kg/cm² initially, then reduce to 1 kg/cm².
Transport Air Pressure:0.5–0.8 kg/cm².
Voltage:Recommended 65–70 kV for consistent powder deposition.
Curing:Use convection ovens or infrared heaters; object temperature must remain between 110°C and 180°C. Ensure primer is fully gelled before applying topcoat.
Film Thickness:Maintain 70–120 µm for optimal corrosion resistance.
Recycling:Minimum of 70% new powder should be used. Clean gun nozzles every 30 minutes to prevent buildup and ensure uniform coating.
Performance and Benefits
Superior Corrosion Protection:Zinc-rich epoxy ensures galvanic protection for exposed steel areas, enhancing durability even in scratched areas.
Excellent Barrier Properties:Forms a dense, continuous film that resists water, salts, and industrial pollutants.
Edge Coverage:Designed for maximum coverage in corners, welds, and recesses.
Mechanical Strength:Resistant to impact, abrasion, and handling during assembly or transportation.
Environmental Sustainability:Solvent-free, minimal VOC emissions, and recyclable powder.
Over-Coating Flexibility:Compatible with a wide range of epoxy, polyester, and polyurethane topcoats, providing adaptability to multiple industrial and architectural applications.
