Stainless Steel Tees CrossesA stainless steel tee, the most common pipe fitting, is used to combine (or divide) fluid flow. It is available with female thread sockets, solvent-weld sockets or opposed solvent-weld sockets and a female-threaded side outlet. Stainless steel tee can connect pipes of different diameter or change the direction of a pipe run. Available in a variety of materials, sizes and finishes, they are used to transport two-fluid mixtures. Stainless steel tee may be equal or unequal size, with equal tees the most common. Stainless steel crosses, also known as four-way fittings, cross branch lines. A stainless steel cross has one inlet and three outlets( or vice versa), and often have solvent-welded socket or female-threaded ends. Stainless steel cross fittings may stress pipes as temperatures change, because they are at the center of four connection points. A stainless steel tee is steadier than a stainless steel cross; it behaves like a three-legged stool, and a stainless cross behaves like a four-legged stool. Stainless steel crosses are common in fire sprinkler systems, but not in plumbing. One stainless steel cross is more expensive than two stainless steel tee.
