Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensors
The Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor connects the intake manifold with a vacuum pipe. With detecting the absolute pressure of the intake manifold behind the throttle, it senses the vacuum change in the intake manifold with the engine speed and load, and then converts it into a voltage signal from the change of the internal resistance of the sensor. ECU corrects the fuel injection quantity and ignition timing angle according to the signal voltage.
In EFI engine, map sensorsis used to detect the intake air volume, which is called D-type injection system. As the piezoresistive intake pressure sensor has the advantages of fast response time, high detection accuracy, small size and flexible installation, it is widely used in D-type injection system.

What Are the Symptoms of a Bad Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensors?
The absolute pressure sensor cardetects the intake air volume indirectly, which is also affected by many factors. Therefore, there are many differences with the intake air flow sensor in the detection and maintenance, and the fault also has its particularity. If the following phenomena occur, there is a fault.
Make ECU fuel injection function abnormal.
Abnormal engine operation or poor acceleration.
The exhaust pipe emits black smoke when the engine is running.
The engine cannot be started.
The engine does not accelerate smoothly.
The engine stalls intermittently.
