PrincipleofOperation
Theprocessmediumflowsthroughthevalveinthedirectionindicatedbythearrowonthebody.Thepositionofthe3-stageor5-stagevalveplugdeterminesthefreeareabetweenthevalveseatsandplugsandhencethepressuredroporflowratethroughthevalve.Thepressuredropoccursinstagessothatcriticaloperatingconditionslikecavitation,excessivewearandhighnoiseemissionsareavoided.Additionally,theplugstemisbottom-guidedforaddedstabilityandtolimitvibrations.Apressure-balancedversioncanbeusedwithhighdifferentialpressureswheretheforceproducedbytheactuatorintheunbalancedversionwouldbeinsufficienttoclosethevalve.Thevalvescanalsobeequippedwithflowdividerstofurtherreducethenoiselevel.
