Quartz glass uses high-purity silica sand as a raw material. The traditional method of fabrication is the melt-quench method (heating the material to the melting temperature and then rapidly cooling to the solid phase of the glass); making transparent glass with ultra-high purity and UV transmittance requires silicon. Quartz glass is a good acid-resistant material, its chemical stability is equivalent to 30 times that of acid-resistant ceramics, 150 times that of nickel-chromium alloy and ceramics. Its application in high temperature and concentrated acid is particularly remarkable, except hydrofluoric acid and 300 °C. In addition to the above phosphoric acid, it is not attacked by other acids, and is particularly resistant to attack by sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid and aqua regia at high temperatures.
