Recirculating ball screws are used in aircraft and missiles to move control surfaces, especially for electric fly by wire, and in automobile power steering to translate rotary motion from an electric motor to axial motion of the steering rack. Linear rail ball screws are also used in machine tools, robots, and precision assembly equipment.

All recirculating ball screws are roll formed of quality high carbon or alloy steel. Screws are induction case hardened for maximum load and service life. Nuts are made from carburizing grades of carbon or alloy steel and case hardened for wear resistance. High grade, bearing quality chrome steel balls are utilized. Return circuitry is secured with alloy capscrews for maximum reliability.

Recirculating Ball Screw Mechanism
The internal recirculation type ballscrew, consists of the screw spindle, the ball nut, the steel balls and the ball return caps. The steel balls make only one revolution around the screw spindle. The circuit is closed by a ball return cap in the nut allowing the balls to cross over adjacent ball tracks. Since the ball return caps are located inside the nut body, this is called the internal recirculation type ballscrew.
