Box Girders

Description of steel box girders
Box girders are convenient structural members for flexurally resistant frames, but due to the closed shape of box columns and the difficulty of accessing internal columns to create a reliable load path, providing proper beam-to-box column connections is still under investigation. To solve this problem, a new easy-to-manufacture moment connection is proposed for connecting I-beams to box columns. The connection consists of vertical plates that pass through the columns and are welded to the column flanges, and beams that are connected to plates called through plates.

Steel box girder structure Steel beam and column welding Box steel column consists of 4 steel plates. Four - way fillet welds are divided into full - penetration groove and partial weld groove according to strength. The box column is provided with a horizontal partition board and a main diaphragm board. The welding adopts the web nozzle electroslag welding, the box body is welded on three sides between the ordinary diaphragm and the cover plate, and the secondary beam of the main beam is vertically supported by the leg and the eye plate on the outside of the special-shaped column. The connection between the column and the column is a combination of welding and top fastening.
