Sintering shrinkage stabilised titanium carbide powder

Titanium carbide powder has high sintering activity and can be sintered densely at 1300-1500°C, which is 200-300°C lower than the sintering temperature of alumina ceramics, saving energy costs. Compared with other ceramic powders (such as silicon carbide), it has better toughness, fracture toughness of 6MPa-m¹/², suitable for making structural ceramic parts. Powder can be made into granules by spray drying, easy to form and process, billet density up to more than 65% of the theoretical density. In the field of wear-resistant valves, ceramic valves made of the powder, can withstand high-pressure fluid washout, service life is 20 times that of steel valves. Titanium carbide powder is a kind of grey-black ultra-fine powder, the purity of which can reach more than 99.9%, with an average particle size between 0.5-5μm, and has the characteristics of high melting point (3140℃) and high hardness (Mohs hardness 9-10). It is the core raw material for the preparation of titanium carbide cemented carbide and ceramic materials, and in powder metallurgy, it can be made into high-performance alloy by mixing with cobalt and nickel powder and sintering. The powder has good sphericity, good fluidity, and loose packing density of 2.5-3.0g/cm³, which can ensure the composition uniformity of the sintered products and avoid porosity or segregation. In the production of cemented carbide, the addition of titanium carbide powder can increase the wear resistance of the alloy by 20-30%, which is widely used in cutting tools, moulds and other fields.
