Neodymium Metal

Neodymium (Nd) Neodymium is a silvery-white metal that is moderately reactive and quickly oxidizes to a yellowish color in air. The metal is soft and ductile. It has a hexagonal structure, a density of 7.004 gm/cm3, a melting point of 1021 °C, and a boiling point of 3027 °C. Neodymium oxide, or neodymia, occurs as a sesquioxide with the formula Nd2O3. The oxide is a pale white powder with a specific gravity of 7.3 gm/cm3, a melting point of 2233 °C,and a formula weight of 336.48. Neodymium is essential in the production of the world’s strongest super magnets-NdFeB magnets or neodymium magnets, which are present in hybrid cars,state-of-the-art wind and tidal turbines, industrial motors, air conditioners, elevators, micros, loud speakers, computer hard drives, in-ear heads, and guitar pick-ups. When combined with Terbium, or Dysprosium, a Neodymium magnet can withstand the highest temperatures of any magnet, allowing the element to be used in electric cars. Neodymium has many additional uses. It is utilized in incandescent light bulbs, cathode ray tubes, as a glass filter and colorant, as a doping agent in Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet lasers, and for glare-reduction in rear-view mirrors. Purity: Nd/TREM = 99% - 99.9% min Packing: In iron drums with inner double PVC bags of 100kg net each, or packed according to customers' specifications.
