There are three types of 5 series marine aluminum plates: 5083, 5086, and 5456. The composition of 5083 aluminum alloy is: aluminum Al: balance, silicon Si: ≤ 0.40, copper Cu: ≤ 0.10, magnesium Mg: 4.0 ~ 4.9, zinc Zn: ≤ 0.25 manganese Mn: 0.40 ~ 1.0 titanium Ti: ≤ 0.15 chromium Cr: 0.05 ~ 0.25 iron Fe: 0 ~ 0.400, 5083 aluminum plate has medium strength, good corrosion resistance and formability, high fatigue resistance, generally used as the main structure of the hull. Others such as 5052, 5086, 5454, 5456, etc., are also used in hull structures or pressure vessels, pipes, hulls and decks. Generally speaking, the thickness of the plate is determined by the hull structure, the ship's specifications and the location of use. From the perspective of lightweight hull, thin plates are generally used as much as possible, but the depth of corrosion of the plates during use should also be considered. The sheet has a thin plate of 1.6 mm or more and a thick plate of 30 mm or more. There are also some special specifications for the use of plates according to the shipyard contract. For non-slip, the deck is made of a tread plate.
From the perspective of the development of marine aluminum panels, at present, many domestic aluminum processing manufacturers have begun to focus on the development of 5 series and 6 series marine aluminum panels, increase scientific research efforts, expand production scale, and enter the high-end manufacturing market such as marine aluminum panels. The 5083, 5086, 5454 and other aluminum plates produced by Mingtai Aluminum Group passed the certification of China Classification Society in 2015, and passed the certification of the Norwegian Classification Society in October, and obtained the "World License" for foreign trade aluminum plates.
