Heavy Weight Drill PipeHeavy Weight Drill Pipe (short for HWDP) is also called Heavy Wall Drill Pipe. It is an intermediate weight drill stem component which is used in conjunction with the drill pipe and drill collars. The characteristics of heavy weight drill pipe is to be like the same drill collar under pressure. A unique characteristic of the drill pipe is that the middle part of the drill pipe is provided with a hard banding. The hard banding can play the role of stabilizer, improve the heavy weight drill pipe on drill string stiffness, reducing well oblique.
