Fire Extinguishing Systems For The Fume Hood
Fume hoods, also known as "fume cupboards" or "fume hoods," are common in industry, pharmaceutical research facilities, and educational institutions. In these locations, there may be multiple users, a variety of chemicals, and different processes, which greatly increases the risk of fire.
Due to the semi-enclosed nature of fume hoods, fires can be difficult to identify, which often means it is too late for the user to take action because the fire has already spread. Often, fume hoods are found in multiple close proximity, which means that a fire originating in a single unit can spread to other adjacent units. The results can be catastrophic, leading to lost research, increased costs, downtime, and endangerment of employees or students.
